Hippeastrum Alberti.— L'Illustration Hort., t. 498. Amaryllidaceae. This beautiful hothouse bulb has precisely the habit of H. equestre, but its orange-red flowers, yellowish towards the base of each petal, measure as much as 6 inches across, and are full double, the organs of fructification being replaced by from 30 to 40 petals, so that it altogether eclipses the double H. fulgidum, which has only two rows of petals. Found cultivated in Cuba by M. Albert Wagner, and sent by him to M. Wagner, of Leipsic, from whom the stock has been acquired by M. Laurentius.
